DaiCon 2009 Aftermath

Lost of words to describe the event ...

Entering the hall, DaiCon looks very much like Comic Fiesta, lots of cosplayers around, several booths selling merchandise and figurines, etc. But one difference, the other half of the hall, was the area where the real event, Chihara Minori's Live in Malaysia, took place.

I bought AWSM ticket for DaiCon more than 1 month ago, so I got access to the Q&A session, the concert and entitled for 1 autograph from Minorin !.

Around 3pm, the Q&A session with Minorin starts, the fans went cheering on her arrival!

And everyone went crazy!!!

The session was done in Japanese, and that was one of the few times where my self-learned Japanese language skill comes in pretty handy. Relying to translators on live event is not quite a good idea :P.

We are only allowed to take pics from our seat, which end me up in a situation struggling to get a stable picture (which, erm, generally a failure on full zoom - the camera I was using was an old cam without any automatic balance adjustments).

NKDS posted a summary on the Q&A questions here

The Q&A session ended with Minorin shouted : マレーシャ最高だ!このばかやろう!!!!. (signature phrase from Chiaki in Minami-Ke)

The next day, was the concert day. みんなは盛り上がったです。Lights turned off, and us AWSM ticket holders each got an event flag brought by Minorin's volunteer supporter group. They come all the way from Japan for the event to support Minorin. Besides the flag, theres light sticks!!.

Event started and everyone started cheering for Minorin waving flags and light sticks. Minorin sang 11 songs + 3 more after fans cheered エンコレ!エンコレ!エンコレ!!!. Everyone waves light sticks following the rhythm and sing along throughout the concert, みんなとても盛り上がった。とてもとても楽しいでした。

NKDS posted the list of songs she sang during the concert

No pics coverage for the concert as its forbidden to do so. I believe there will be an official DVD released for it, so, I'll wait for that :D.

After the end of concert, Minorin said that she really loved Malaysia, this is the first time she came here and she never expected such high response from people here. She also mentioned she was surprised that people in Malaysia can understand Japanese well, and she are very touched with the warm welcome from Malaysian and lots of smiles around. She also mentioned she was glad being a seiyuu and taken the role of Nagato Yuki, as through Yuki, she have fans from all over the world, especially Malaysia. Again, she wraps out the whole event with : マレーシャ最高だ, このばかやろう!!!。

Minorin also blogged about her experience on her blog:

Minorin in Malaysia - Day 1
Minorin in Malaysia - Day 2
Minorin in Malaysia - Day 3

Stuff I got from DaiCon: Minorin's autograph, Chihara Minori Malaysia Live Tour fan flag, Lucky Star shitajiki (pencil board), Macross Plus T-Shirt, Animax wrist band and phone chain

It was a very exciting event and I am really glad I went for that AWSM ticket. It was a rare chance to get one of my most favourite seiyuu live and the AWSM ticket was worth it. とてもとて盛り上がった。

Looking forward for more Seiyuu coming to Malaysia for performance, ... or .. probably I'll figure out how to just go to Japan for the events. :P

Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu 2nd Season is HERE!!!

At last, Suzumiya Haruhi No Yuutsu「涼宮ハルヒの憂鬱」 2nd season has aired!!. More Haruhism!!!.

Yuuki's seiyuu, Chihara Minori, on this year's 11th to 12th July will be coming to perform at DaiCon. Bring everyone there!.

A re-broadcast of the first series began in April 2009. Following a comment by Teletama, one of the broadcasting stations, that the 2009 broadcast would be twenty-eight episodes long, there was speculation that the re-broadcast will be followed by the second season, though this has not been confirmed by Kadokawa. On May 17, 2009, TV Wakayama listed the eighth broadcasted episode of the re-broadcast as a new episode reported to air on May 24, 2009, though it was removed later. The new episode, "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody" (笹の葉ラプソディ, Sasa no Ha Rapusodi?), was aired on May 21, 2009. Unlike the original run, the re-broadcast is shown in chronological order, with new episodes intermixed with the old ones. - Wikipedia

Heavy MOE and KAWAII bombing from Aya Hirano - sama !!!!! KIIIITAAAAキッタ!!!

Looking at her latest blog post, apparently she's still out of Japan at this moment, probably still around in Malaysia!!!.

This is one of the rare time I wish I have a transport to for hunting^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hstrolling. But as usual, I'm stuck at home (partly myself to blame, I can't leave this laptop .. lol ).

( Edit: Post #3089 : She's already in .JP >.< )

Hope Aya-chan having an enjoyable time in .MY.

(for those who doesn't know who is Aya Hirano, she's my #1 favourite seiyuu and singer. Wikipedia.)

Code Geass: Zero Requiem

Its been a while since i last post something in this blog. A bit of a change from the usual tech posts, an anime-related post - Code Geass's R2 final episode.

Since Eureka Seven, its been a while that I last experienced withdrawal after a series. Throughout the 2 seasons, Code Geass have been a very enjoyable ride. The story are well written and well presented. The non-stop feeding of cliffhangers, the plot where good and evil are different based on perception, made it a very enjoyable and fun ride.

Fact of life, everything has to end, Code Geass officially ended last week. Lelouch a.k.a Zero strategic mind, ideals and personality made it to the top of the my most-respected anime character list. And his final sacrifice .. is EPIC.

Lelouch Vi Britannia / Lelouch Lamperouge , once a prince of the Holy Britannian Empire - the empire that have taken over half of the world population through military forces - seek to create a new peaceful world where his sister, Nunnaly - who was blinded and lost her walking ability when their mother was killed - could live a peaceful and happy life. A world without war, where everyone living peaceful with each other. One day he met a mysterious girl, called C.C., and was given a power to force absolute obedience - a Geass - and that power have created him a key to change the world. Under the faceless mask of Zero, he created the Order of The Black Knights to take down his father's empire and recreate the world.

Zero Requiem: Lelouch's final masterplan of creating a new world - by directing the world's hate toward himself - to make people forget the Euphemia "Massacre Princess" tragedy, and for recreating the world. He successfully unite everyone by taking over the whole world and made the whole world hated him by being a tyrannical dictator - an act that made everyone unite under a common trait - despising the Emperor Lelouch. The closure of Zero Requiem, is he plotting his own death - bringing everyone's hatred with him, and successfully fulfilled his objective - to destroy and recreate the world.

A bitter ending, yet sweet and memorable.

Lelouch have taken over the world, as a tyrannical dictator, and made the whole world hate him.

Zero reappears, behind the mask was previously Lelouch, now, Suzaku have taken this symbol of justice.

Suzaku, Lelouch's best friend since childhood, taken the honor to finish the Zero Requiem, and also taken the final wish of Lelouch, to live as Zero for the rest of his life, becoming the symbol of justice.

Final smile before the end.

The final verse of the Zero Requiem. Rest in peace Lelouch. T_T

Several of my favourite quotes from Code Geass:

If the king doesn't move, then his subjects won't follow.
Lelouch Vi Britannia

The world won't change with pretty words alone
Lelouch Vi Britannia

If being powerless is evil, is having power justice? Is revenge evil? Can friendship coexist with justice?
Lelouch Vi Britannia

Those with power, fear us! Those without power, seek us! The world should be judge by us, The Order of the Black Knights.
Lelouch Vi Britannia

Will there be sacrifice? Yes and not just soldiers, but innocent bystanders, as well. Even so ... no ... because of that, I cannot stop. Even if I need to cheat and hurt others, I must persevere. To that end I must become carnage incarnate. I must spill yet more blood, so that the blood already spilt will not be in vain.
Lelouch Vi Britannia

Inequality is not an evil. Equality itself is evil
Emperor Charles Di Britannia

Good and evil are simply different sides of the card
Emperor Charles Di Britannia

And the one I liked the most:

Those who may shoot are only those who are prepared to get shot themselves
Lelouch Vi Britannia

While Sunrise made everyone wonder whether Lelouch is still alive, I'm guessing this is the end of Lelouch legend. Even if he is still alive and travelling with C.C, the wars already ended. Anyhow, an OVA to wrap up everything would be great.

All in all, Code Geass is a recommended watch for those who haven't watch it. The whole 2 seasons of Code Geass was very enjoyable to me.

Shakugan No Shana Season 1 : @ NTV7!?

Looks like NTV7 just started showing one of my all time favourite anime! .. Shakugan No Shana!!!!. I noticed it just now, when they air the first episode. And guess what, it remains in Japanese, which ROCKS!!

So, Saturdays: 12:30pm, Malaysian anime lovers get the chance to see Shana in action, on Malaysian TV!. I have the whole 2 seasons (season 2 just ended a few weeks ago) in my anime collection, but I guess I'll still watch the TV version (although, undoubtedly, it might have some parts cut).

First Trinity Blood, then Jigoku Shoujo, and now , SHANA!!!!!!. And all of them broadcasted in the original Japanese language, which preserve the beauty of the original seiyuu, the sound effects, and most important, the moe-ness!!.

Go NTV7!!!!

Meanwhile, at the other side of the world, Animanda fansubs have agreed with to continue subbing Death Note. よかった。

(^-^) Anxiously waiting for the next episode.

Psalms of Planets : Eureka Seven

I just finished watching this Eureka Seven this afternoon ( yup, I'm kindof late) , and it was GREAT!. The series was a little bit slow in the beginning , but as the series develop , I grew to love this anime. The storytelling , the character development , everything, was done greatly if not perfect. The series gets interesting by each passing episodes of a total of 50 episodes.

The story is about a boy, Renton Thurston, who lives with his grandfather Axel Thurston in a city called Bellforest, until one day, a mecha , piloted by a mysterious girl, crashed onto his house. Starting from that day, his life changed and he set on an adventure with the girl, Eureka and a group of ex-military renegades The GekkoState. The story revolves around his relationship with Eureka , the conflict between the GekkoState and the Federation , and the mystery of the Coralians.

The storyline have plenty of high-flying mecha battles, confusing yet interesting scifi element, heart-touching conflicts, and love theme. After you finished watching the last episode, you'll end up having a very mixed emotions. The last time I felt like this was after the end of Sailormoon Season 1 (which I watched less than a year ago, considering that I'm into anime just recently, other sailormoon seasons is not as good as season 1), FateStayNight, and ShakuganNoShana (yup, 3 times in less than 6 months. I was marathoning animes which i've just downloaded). It makes depressed(because it ended)+happy(the ending is so happy)+craving for more. And now i'm in a state of withdrawal because of that. I just downloaded a different anime but I simply couldn't watch it. I WANT MORE EUREKA7!!

I noticed that this anime is not quite widespread in Malaysia. Anime lovers in Malaysia who havent watched this. Get it while there are still people seeding it. A good anime like this comes once in a blue moon and I really recommended everyone who loves anime to watch it or you'll regret it.

I'm not really good in writing reviews about TVseries of movie so I leave you all with the wikipedia entry of the anime. I need to find a way to get out of this withdrawal syndrom. - Warning! A lot of Spoilers

Don't beg for it,
Go for it,
Do that and you'll get it.
